Frequently Asked Questions

What is RIDDOR?

RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013) requires UK employers to report certain workplace accidents, occupational diseases, and dangerous occurrences to the HSE. Reportable incidents include: deaths, specified injuries (fractures, amputations, loss of sight, burns), over-7-day incapacitation injuries, occupational diseases, and dangerous occurrences (near misses involving specific equipment or processes).

When must I report an accident to the HSE under RIDDOR?

You must report to the HSE immediately (within 10 days) for: deaths and specified injuries (fractures of arm/leg/spine, amputations, serious burns, loss of consciousness). Over-7-day absence injuries must be reported within 15 days. Non-fatal accidents to members of the public that result in them being taken from the scene to hospital must also be reported.

Does this tool file the RIDDOR report for me?

No. This tool generates a structured incident report document for your own records. If your incident is RIDDOR-reportable, you must report it directly to the UK HSE via hse.gov.uk/riddor/. For OSHA recordkeeping in the US, you must use OSHA Form 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses) and Form 301 (Injury and Illness Incident Report).
