How is shipping volumetric weight calculated?
Volumetric weight (kg) = Length x Width x Height (cm) divided by 5,000. A box measuring 40cm x 30cm x 20cm has a volumetric weight of 4.8kg. Carriers charge whichever is greater: actual weight or volumetric weight. Large but light items like pillows or lampshades often cost more to ship than their actual weight suggests.
