Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my GPA?

Multiply each course grade (converted to grade points) by its credit hours, sum all the results, then divide by the total credit hours. For example, three A grades (4.0) at 3 credits each = 12 ÷ 3 = 4.0 GPA. Use the calculator above to do this automatically for all your courses.

What is a 4.0 GPA in percentage?

A 4.0 GPA typically corresponds to 90–100% or an A/A+ grade. The exact percentage cut-off varies by institution, but generally 90%+ earns a 4.0.

What is a good GPA?

In the US, a 3.0 GPA (B average) is generally considered good standing. A 3.5+ is often considered strong for graduate school applications. Many selective programmes look for 3.7+. In the UK, a 2:1 (upper second) or First Class is typically considered a good degree.

What is the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?

An unweighted GPA treats all courses equally. A weighted GPA accounts for course difficulty, advanced or honours courses may carry more credit hours or grade points. Our calculator uses a credit-hour weighted average, which is the standard method used by most universities.
