Finance

Stacked discounts apply sequentially, not additively: 20% off then 10% off = 28% total, not 30%.

Reverse mode finds what percentage discount was applied given the original and final price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate a percentage discount?

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage divided by 100. For example, 25% off £80 = £80 × 0.25 = £20 discount, giving a final price of £60.

What is a stacked discount?

A stacked discount applies two discounts sequentially. For example, 20% off then 10% off does NOT equal 30% off, it equals 28% off, because the second discount applies to the already-reduced price.

How do I find the original price from a discounted price?

Use the Reverse mode. Enter the original price and the final price paid, and the calculator will tell you the exact discount percentage that was applied.
